A little about me...
Teaching
I graduated from Illinois State University in 2014 and completed my student teaching in Unit 5. I am certified to teach Spanish, English as a Second Language, and Language Arts. I spent 6 months teaching 3rd grade at a private school in Guatemala City, Guatemala after I graduated, and loved being immersed in another culture and learning new traditions and ways of thinking. I also taught 7th and 8th grade Spanish in Lake Forest. This is my 3rd year at Hawthorn Middle School North and I am looking forward to seeing my old students and getting to know my new ones!
Travel, Travel, Travel
I love to travel. So far I have been to Spain, Italy, Portugal, Morocco, Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, and the Dominican Republic, but I have an much longer wish list for my future travels. My favorite trips have been to Spain and Mexico. I studied abroad in Granada, Spain for 5 months and lived with a host family so I could better experience Spanish culture. I also traveled to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and volunteered in a classroom at a daycare called Casa de los Angeles. Traveling helps me bring new experiences and insights into the classroom.
